Violinist Fiona Shea will present a recital of classical repertoire for violin and piano on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:00pm at Faith Lutheran Church. The recital will feature music from across the centuries, representing diverse styles such as the baroque chaconne variation, Bohemian nationalistic music, late Romantic virtuosic showpieces and 20th-century minimalism, including compositions by Vitali, Smetana, Saint-Saëns, Wieniawksi and Arvo Pärt. Miss Shea, a native of Lubbock, Texas, is the granddaughter of Robert and Rosemary Jokisch of Jacksonville and she will be accompanied at the piano by her mother, Regina.

Fiona last performed in Jacksonville at the age of ten as the Grand Prize Winner of the Jacksonville Symphony’s 2010 Talent Among Us competition. Since then, she has won numerous competitions, including the Juanita Miller, Schmidbauer and Nelda Hodges Young Artist competitions and has performed as concerto soloist with the Mesquite, Waco, Conroe, Kingsville and Abilene Symphonies as well as appearing as a soloist on NPR’s From The Top with host, Christopher O’Reilly. She was selected to be a member of the 2016 class of Young Masters by the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Miss Shea currently studies at the Colburn Conservatory of Music in Los Angeles, California where she is a pupil of Robert Lipsett, the Jascha Heifetz Distinguished Professor of Violin. In this past academic year, Fiona was a concerto soloist with the Colburn Orchestra in their Concerto Showcase concert. She also performed the Teleman Triple Violin Concerto with noted baroque violinist, Elicia Silverstein and the Colburn Baroque Ensemble and in a Colburn Chamber Music Society recital with featured guest artist, pianist Eliso Virsaladze. Fiona performed in masterclasses given by violinists Ray Chen and Hillary Hahn.

This summer, Fiona is looking forward to returning to the Aspen Music Festival as an Aspen Conducting Academy Orchestra Fellow.
